Somehow

"The central Christian belief is that Christ's death has somehow put us right with God and given us a fresh start." -C. S. Lewis

I love how Lewis uses the word, "somehow". It's as if he's saying, "It's beyond me!", and he's darn right. But it's a happy thing to remember: that for some unearthly and inexplicable reason God Almighty chose to send His precious Son to live the life I couldn't live and die the death I should've died. And if that wasn't enough, He miraculously credits us with that life and frees us from that impending death. Yeah, that's pretty much mind-boggling. And as one of my favorite quotes goes, "I don't really know what that means, but I know I like it." I'll never fully understand the Gospel, at least while I'm on earth, but one thing I do know, it's the best news I've ever heard.
